China last year.\u003cbr/\u003eThe EU last month called on China to end to what it said are unfair barriers to European companies, drop demands that they hand over technology to Chinese partners and halt subsidies to industry.\u003cbr/\u003eBo said China must be a treated as a developing country that still has 100 to 200 (m) million people living on the equivalent of 1 US dollar a day.\u003cbr/\u003eBut later, in a speech to students at Beijing's elite Tsinghua University, Mandelson said; \"It is no longer possible for China to shut out the world, or behave as if it were
