Clip 'The Producers'\u003cbr/\u003e'The Producers', 'Mel Brooks' bad taste musical which sends up the Nazi regime and famously features the song 'Springtime For Hitler,' is set to open in the UK on 9th November.\u003cbr/\u003eThe musical is a stage version of Brooks' Oscar-winning 1968 film and centres on has-been producer Max Bialystock and accountant Leo Bloom, who set out to make a fortune by creating the world's worst musical.\u003cbr/\u003eThey come up with 'Springtime For Hitler,' a concept so tasteless it should be a sure-fire flop.\u003cbr/\u003e'The Producers' has been Broadway's biggest success story of recent years, winning an unprecedented 12 Tony Awards since it opened at the St James Theatre in 2001 with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the starring roles.\u003cbr/\u003eBrooks said that he expects the play to go down especially well with a London audience:\u003cbr/\u003e\"It delivers this wonderful, touching togetherness at the end that really works, they cheer, you know they really applaud. So I mean I must say, because you can do a lot of work and you can give it everything, you can give it your heart and soul and things can fail. But this one... This one's a success.\" he said\u003cbr/\u003eThe West End show originally planned to have Richard Dreyfuss taking the lead role but the production was thrown in to turmoil when the Hollywood star pulled out just weeks before the opening.\u003cbr/\u003eThe musical's producers at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane said that Dreyfuss was forced to forfeit the plum role of Max Bialystock because of continuing complications from surgery earlier this year.  \u003cbr/\u003eNathan Lane, star of the Broadway production has joined the London cast as his replacement on a temporary basis until January 2005.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite not having found a replacement yet for Nathan Lane, The Producers producers have announced a six-month booking period extension for the London show. \u003cbr/\u003e'The Producers' joins two other big budget musicals in the battle for audiences in London's West End, Sir Cameron Mackintosh's 'Mary Poppins' and Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'The Woman In White.'
