Nikol and friends travelling in train by night\u003cbr/\u003e24.Close up of Nikol on train\u003cbr/\u003eA Chilean teenager suffering from a rare genetic skin condition that means her skin can't tolerate sunlight has been given a special suit by NASA to protect her from ultraviolet rays.  \u003cbr/\u003eBut 14-year old Nikol is so depressed that even with her new suit she doesn't want to leave the house. \u003cbr/\u003eNikol Aravena lives in Villa Alemana, a town 150 kilometres south west of the Chilean capital, Santiago.\u003cbr/\u003eNikol has a genetic skin condition meaning her skin is ultra-sensitive to light and radiation from the sun.\u003cbr/\u003eNASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has recently offered Nikol a suit which will allow her to go outside during the day.\u003cbr/\u003eThe suit should protect Nikol's skin from light and radiation.\u003cbr/\u003eDermatologist Jorge Testart says Nikol suffers from a condition called 'genodermatosis' meaning she cannot repair her skin cells.\u003cbr/\u003eEvery day more and more damage is done to her skin.\u003cbr/\u003eNikol's mother Irma Molina says the condition appeared when Nikol was just a baby.\u003cbr/\u003eNikol's sister died from the same condition in 2004.\u003cbr/\u003eThe suit consists of a hood and goggles, a top and pants. \u003cbr/\u003eDermatologist Jorge Testart says the suit is not a cure but may help her move around more.\u003cbr/\u003eBut even with the suit Nikol, who is very depressed, does not want to go outside and play.  She would rather stay inside and listen to the radio.\u003cbr/\u003eTo help her deal with her condition, Nikol has a psychologist that comes to the house.\u003cbr/\u003eNikol's mother says she encourages her friends to come around to play in an attempt to boost Nikol's confidence.  \u003cbr/\u003eOne of Nikol's dreams was to travel by train to Valparaiso.\u003cbr/\u003eThis dream was realised with the help of the local train company who gave Nikol star treatment when she turned up to travel and switched off the train carriage lighting, allowing Nikol to travel safely and comfortably.\u003cbr/\u003eNikol has had many operations to remove tumours from her skin, including one recently from her left eye.\u003cbr/\u003eDoctors can only proscribe creams to alleviate Nikol's
