There were also telephone numbers including the private number of Prime  Minister John Major and Queen Elizabeth.\u003cbr/\u003eI got an E-Mail which is a document, just a text document. which appeared to contain  the prime minister's telephone installation and I was skeptical. I thought it was a hoax. \u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION:Steve Fleming, Journalist\u003cbr/\u003eDuring his research, Steve Fleming applied for a temporary job at British Telecom and  after only a few hours on the job he was able to access the most sensitive information.\u003cbr/\u003eWithin a few hours of starting the job... obviously I had tasks to perform but within a few  hours I had managed to obtained the passwords which were freely available and indeed  all the other staff were talking about the fact: You get the passwords over here, this is  how you do this, how you do that, and then I went to the terminal and confirmed the  Downing Street number and so pretty much the information I had been passed.  Although I wasn't particular good at using the system at that stage. I had only been  there a few hours. And the I confirmed the MI6 document and then for me it was clear  that something serious was going on here and the appalling lack of security on that  system. It was dreadful, I couldn't believe it. It was the most stunning piece of  hackery I've seen, very simple. Let's keep it simple, why take a chance at being  traced and find an illegal access. Why don't you just put a temp (temporary staff) in the  office. really, it's much easier. The person that  transmitted the information to him may or may not have committed an offence.
