She's sleeping well, there's not as many lights as there are usually,\" Feeney said.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the Lower East Side, Mexican restaurant and bar also Casa Mezcal opened so patrons could celebrate Halloween and the Day of the Dead, a traditional Mexican holiday.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We didn't want to disappoint people, said manager Giovanni Escalera.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's fun so far, it's kind of an adventure.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn the East Village, neighbours gathered for an impromptu cookout.\u003cbr/\u003eNot wanting to waste food, residents grilled whatever they had lying around before it went bad.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, \"Time's Up,\" a New York environmental group, provided a bike that powered a charging station for cell phones and other electronics. \u003cbr/\u003e\"People come together and they help each other and communities start and people come out on the street,\" said the group's Barbara Ross. \u003cbr/\u003e\"And you don't see that.
