With his wife murdered by a drug addicted mugger, Richard Harris' King Lear like character has a moral awakening and begins to give away his drug dealing empire to his children.\u003cbr/\u003eBut who to give it to? Youngest daughter Jo, played by Emma Catherwood, is the least morally corrupt and his favourite - but she's given up on crime, gone to college and wants nothing to do with the seedy underworld of which her father is king.\u003cbr/\u003eHis other two daughters, Cath and Emma, played by Louise Lombard and Lorraine Pilkington, are well and truly into the seedy underworld. As the proprietors of various brothels, drug dens and other less than savoury establishments, they understand the world of their father's Kingdom, but unfortunately for him they are also vicious, money grabbing, power crazed violent bitches.\u003cbr/\u003eAPTN caught up with both actresses in the trailers, and then at the scene of the knife fight at the climax of the film.\u003cbr/\u003eBoyd had wanted to make the film about the British crime family, the Krays, but sold the rights to their story to Peter Medak (who made The Krays) - so My Kingdom was his opportunity to make a film about the moral ambiguities of the criminal underworld. He was keen not to glamorise the crime baron at the centre of the movie, and realised he'd found his source material when he re-read King Lear.\u003cbr/\u003eRichard Harris agrees with Boyd that the criminal should be portrayed as a bad man, and is thankful the film isn't a Hollywood production for exactly that reason. \u003cbr/\u003eBut he's keen to point out the film isn't King Lear, \"Shakespeare wrote King Lear, no-one could do it better than him, \" says the Gladiator star.\u003cbr/\u003eHarris is known to be a difficult actor to work with, but Boyd says he was lucky, they saw \"eye to eye\" as soon as they met and had a good working relationship.\u003cbr/\u003eAs a director Don Boyd made \"Goldeneye: The Secret Life of Ian Fleming\", a TV movie about the writer of the James Bond books, and as a producer has long track record including the Sex Pistols film, \"The Great Rock N Roll Swindle\"\u003cbr/\u003eRichard Harris has made over 50 movies in a career that spans over 50 years, recently playing the dying emperor Marcus Aurelius in the blockbuster Gladiator, as well as parts in Smilla's Sense of Snow and Patriot Games.\u003cbr/\u003eLouise Lombard starred opposite Jason Scott Lee in The Tale Of the Mummy (1998) and has played a variety of roles in popular British television series including Casualty, The House of Elliot and Bergerac.\u003cbr/\u003eLorraine Pilkington starred in the 1999 British film Human Traffic and Pierce Brosnan's The Nephew.\u003cbr/\u003eEmma Catherwood is a newcomer.\u003cbr/\u003eThe film is currently in post-production and currently has no release date.\u003cbr/\u003e16.
