he is only set to drive through the main street into the golf course.\u003cbr/\u003eBut his visit has been greeted with a zeal unmatched in any other part of the island. \u003cbr/\u003eA seven foot tall statue of the president  was still having the final touches made to it before being put up in the centre of the town to be unveiled on Saturday. \u003cbr/\u003eThe final product will be in bronze, but as it was only commissioned three weeks ago, a plaster cast sprayed with bronze paint has been prepared for Saturday's event.\u003cbr/\u003eSouvenir shops selling Clinton memorabilia had their shelves fully stocked and the atmosphere is fevered to say the least.\u003cbr/\u003eSome fear a bit of a let down after the visit is over.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"The buildup has been very good and very exciting, but it's very difficult to envisage what the effect will be afterwards.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Catherine Fitzgerald, Owner, Clinton Shop\u003cbr/\u003eBallybunion residents were bitterly disappointed when Clinton was forced to cancel plans for a round of golf in the village during his Irish visit three years ago, as a result of the crisis in Bosnia.\u003cbr/\u003eThey've lobbied tirelessly, and successfully,  for him to stop off on his return.\u003cbr/\u003eAt least 500 large colour posters of Clinton were being placed on every\u003cbr/\u003elamp-post leading to Ballybunion's world-famous golf club.\u003cbr/\u003e17 miles of road leading into the village has even been relaid to give the Presidential cavalcade a smooth run in.\u003cbr/\u003eBookmakers are offering odds of 250-to-one on the President scoring a hole-in-one during his round on the golf course.\u003cbr/\u003eThe team led by the club's captain, Brian McCarthy is expected to beat the President and his golfing partners, Ireland's  Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy and former foreign minister Dick Spring.\u003cbr/\u003eBut McCarthy is being coy about how hard he will try to win.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"If I were president of the United States, I'd expect to be let to win, but seriously, I don't know how good a golfer he is.
