Haute.\u003cbr/\u003eDemonstrators on both sides of the death penalty issue arrived by police escort in buses driven by police officers.\u003cbr/\u003eBoth the pro-death penalty and the anti-death penalty groups had been meeting in nearby parks to hear speeches and join in protest songs.\u003cbr/\u003eOrganisers had expected thousands of demonstrators on both sides of the issue to journey to Terre Haute to join in the protests.\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, the delay in the originally scheduled execution date disrupted plans for many demonstrators.\u003cbr/\u003eMost of those who did demonstrate
