Gone is the big screen of the earlier model - what we have here is a more manageable 5.5 inches with a 1080p resolution. \u003cbr/\u003eThe curve is also less pronounced - which the company hopes will make it easier to hold. Note too the casing made of glossy plastic, which it's claimed will help protect the device from scratches. \u003cbr/\u003eFrank Lee, who is marketing brand manager for LG Electronics says the new smartphone is the company's \"most ambitious\" yet.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's the perfect balance of beauty, with its curved design, yet the same time a benchmark of innovation. And it's built primarily for the benefit of convenience, with its enhanced viewing capability and the easy-to-hold shape,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003eEarlier at CES in Las Vegas,  LG showed off their new line of 4K OLED TVs - there are seven models in all that they are displaying here this year. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong them is a TV that can transform from a flat to a curved screen thanks to a motorised bezel. \u003cbr/\u003e\"LG's commitment to OLED (organic light-emitting diode), the investment, the resources, the energy, the creative thinking that we're putting into it, boils down to one bottom line point: OLED is quite simply the best TV ever and the future of television,\" explains head of product development, Tim Alessi. \u003cbr/\u003e\"And LG is the only company that is able to put OLED into people's hands today.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough LG is showcasing OLEDs, they are keen to push their quantum dot technology. \u003cbr/\u003eThe new display promises a better viewing experience, by using a layer of light-receptive nanoparticles in between the LED backlit system which creates a picture more akin to the OLED experience. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We're also significantly advancing the picture quality of our 4K LCD TVs. This year we'll feature colour prime technology in several series, which will expand the colour gamut that can be displayed by up to 30 percent,\" Alessi says. \u003cbr/\u003eAmid a muted response from the audience, LG also unveiled their next generation of domestic appliances - which includes a new double-load washing machine and family refrigerator. \u003cbr/\u003eHead of brand marketing, David VanderWaal, says LG's ability to address \"everyday obstacles\" is exemplified by their new 2015 household products. \u003cbr/\u003eLater Samsung and Sony will be unveiling their latest range of devices, smartphones and gadgets. \u003cbr/\u003eMore than 160,000 tech innovators and gadget geeks are here for CES.
