reported.\u003cbr/\u003eFamily members of two doctors who died earlier this month received over 3,600 US dollars each from the Taikang Life Insurance company.\u003cbr/\u003eThe company says it has made available an 18 (m) million US dollars SARS insurance package for medical staff fighting the disease in the Chinese capital.\u003cbr/\u003eThe special SARS insurance plan has attracted thousands of inquires nationwide, according to the company.\u003cbr/\u003eTaikang Life Insurance says it sells the SARS insurance through phones or over the internet in over 25 provinces.\u003cbr/\u003eThe company says each plan pays up to 50-thousand yuan, or six-thousand US dollars, with the minimum purchase of 100 yuan, or 12.5 US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eIt can be purchased separately without attaching it to other insurance plans.\u003cbr/\u003eCustomers say it meets the rising public demand for insurance cover.\u003cbr/\u003eIt is not mandatory for companies or work units in China to provide insurance to their employees.\u003cbr/\u003eMost Chinese have no health insurance or government health coverage.\u003cbr/\u003eSARS has killed 271 people on China's mainland, the world's
