(Dec. 30)\u003cbr/\u003e[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]\u003cbr/\u003e     SOT: nats of celebrations \"we thank everybody helping us, and celebrating in the death of Saddam (cheers) \u003cbr/\u003e     There was a sense of euphoria in Deerborn, Michigan -- home to thousands of Iraqi exiles -- as news spread that the Saddam Hussein -- who had ruthlessly ruled Iraq for a quarter-century -- had been put to death.\u003cbr/\u003e     There was singing, dancing, drums beating, horns honking  .. And this giant Iraqi flag waving in celebration. \u003cbr/\u003eSOT:  Saddam will join the list of all the monsters in hell, and we're so happy \u003cbr/\u003eSOT:  His death is so much more than his life.\u003cbr/\u003e    But in other parts of the U-S .. There were more sober reflections on the death of Saddam -- and what it might mean in the great legacy of the Iraq war .. \u003cbr/\u003eSOT: It's sort of a hollow moment. I'm not sure it means as much as George Bush said it did when he announced we got him.\u003cbr/\u003e     In New York City  -- the execution made headlines in all major paper -- and the giant electronic displays in Times Square .. \u003cbr/\u003e     And here, many felt justice had been served -- others had mixed feelings.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: just shedding another drop of blood this horror that has become this war, it resolved nothing.  \u003cbr/\u003eSOT: I think he deserves it for all the people he killed.  It's an eye for an eye.\u003cbr/\u003e     And in Killeen Texas, home to the Army's Fort Hood -- residents closely watched the execution coverage on TV.\u003cbr/\u003e     Many feeling it represented justice, and closure ... \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE (English) Louis Pepper/Killeen Texas resident \u003cbr/\u003e\"I'm proud, I'm glad they hung him, he deserved it. After all the chaos he has caused everybody else.. and he set an example for terrorists everywhere to come over here and think they can mess with the U.S. and they can't.
