It offers high end facilities and a range of different yoga classes, but requires an initiation fee of $40 along with a basic package that runs close to $125 a month.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We've seen yoga as a practice evolve. There are, yes, yoga moms doing yoga and crunchy yoga practitioners, and in general I think studios like this have made it accessible to more people. We embrace every type of practice and every type of yoga lifestyle here,\" says general manager Jenna Baker. \u003cbr/\u003eBaker says the benefits that membership offers more than makes up for the cost. Clients agree. \u003cbr/\u003eMatt Sweeney is a dancer living in New York City.  He says that while the cost of membership is high, it's worth it.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Whereas there are other great studios in the city, but they tend to focus on one specific lineage, whereas Pure has really done a great job at bringing in everyone from the community so that you have the opportunity to really explore these different lineages.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHigh-end studios aren't the only beneficiary of the yoga boom. \u003cbr/\u003eClothing retailer, Lululemon Athletica, has become ubiquitous with yoga clothing. \u003cbr/\u003eTheir tank tops are praised by yogis for their sweat-wicking abilities and comfortable weave, but they set customers back $52. \u003cbr/\u003eCoveted \"Groove\" yoga pants cost $108.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"It was a bit of sticker shock the first time I bought something from Lululemon, but as soon as you buy something and you wear it, you know why it costs so much,\" says Lisa Metzger, a Toronto resident shopping at the Union Square location in New York City.\u003cbr/\u003eShari Schwarz also admits to having an expensive crush on the comfortable exercise-wear. \u003cbr/\u003e\"I probably spend like $200 a month in here, so I'll probably buy like two to four things depending on what I need. I mean, I work out every day,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003eBut not everyone feels yoga has to be expensive. \u003cbr/\u003eDo Yoga Do Pilates in Tribeca is a donation-based studio. \u003cbr/\u003eWhen it first opened the studio charged fees, but since switching to a more affordable donation-based model, the number of clients attending classes has swelled. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Some of our fee based clients have not come back, which I'm not sure why. I think they like the smaller classes. I think they liked the smaller classes back then maybe. We had five or six people in each class and now we're in the double digits,\" says manager Elisa Chen.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe suggested donation for a class at Chen's studio is $10, but many people pay less.\u003cbr/\u003e\"A lot of people think yoga should be free.
