the international media since assuming office two weeks ago.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring a joint news conference after the meeting, Secretary Beckett said that the UK's relationship with China will continue to be a priority under the leadership of the UK's new Prime Minister Gordon Brown.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Certainly, he (Gordon Brown) strongly shares the view of Prime Minister Blair and indeed the whole government, about the importance of the relationship between Britain and China,\" she said.\u003cbr/\u003eThey also discussed the Korean Nuclear Negotiations, and the upcoming Strategic Economic Dialogue that will open between the US and China next week.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Thursday Beckett called on China to play a positive role by encouraging other countries to promote democracy and counterfeiting. \u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking about the forthcoming Strategic Economic Dialogue with the US, Yang said: \"I believe that with efforts from both sides, the results of this dialogue will be
