Neptune declared any such aid should not \"aid the coup-d''etat machine\" seeking to force President Jean Bertrand Aristide to resign.\u003cbr/\u003eThe minister''s comments came after reports of yet another town being attacked by rebels overnight. \u003cbr/\u003eHinche, some 70 miles (112 kilometres) northeast of the capital, with a population of 87,000, was attacked by around 50 armed rebels, according to reports. \u003cbr/\u003eThe rebels killed the police chief, burned the police station down and killed two other officers before apparently withdrawing.   \u003cbr/\u003eAs the crisis continued to deepen, France offered to send in forces to aid Haiti''s embattled police forces and government, while the U.S. has rejected any such action.\u003cbr/\u003eJames Foley, the U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, was harshly critical of the government, saying the current political crisis and ensuing violence was a result of policies pursued by the Aristide government. \u003cbr/\u003eFoley said the U.S. was willing to work with other international partners to help resolve the impasse, but would not directly intervene militarily or otherwise in the country.\u003cbr/\u003eThe U.S. has
