with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). \u003cbr/\u003eJuanita Castro supported her brother's 1959 overthrow of Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista but began passing information to the CIA in 1961 after she says she became disillusioned with the revolution.\u003cbr/\u003eIn her Spanish-Language memoir released on Monday - and co-written with journalist Maria Antonieta Collins - Castro says she collaborated with the CIA against her brother, starting shortly after the United States' failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says the wife of the Brazilian ambassador to Cuba persuaded her to meet a CIA officer during a trip to Mexico in 1961.\u003cbr/\u003eBy then, her house had already become a sanctuary for anti-communists, and Fidel Castro had warned her about getting involved with the \"gusanos,\" or worms, as those who opposed the revolution were called.\u003cbr/\u003eShe told The Associated Press that Castro knew she was helping anti-communists but she doesn't think he knew about the CIA connection.\u003cbr/\u003eCastro said she hadn't spoken to either Fidel or their brother, Cuban President Raul Castro, since before she left the island in 1964. \u003cbr/\u003eWhen Castro first arrived in the US, she said many exiles considered her a communist spy. \u003cbr/\u003eShe later helped found a CIA-backed non-profit organisation that worked against Cuba's government.\u003cbr/\u003eUnder President Richard Nixon, CIA officers told her they were no longer going to support the underground fight against Castro because it negatively affected US-Soviet relations. \u003cbr/\u003eCastro said the CIA wanted her to start making statements that communism in Latin America was no longer a threat.\u003cbr/\u003eAt that point she broke off with the
