August 15 earthquake.\u003cbr/\u003eTwo weeks after the magnitude-8 quake practically destroyed various cities in Peru's south eastern region, the country's Civil Defence announced the latest numbers of people affected by the the tragedy.\u003cbr/\u003ePeru's National Director of Civil Defence, Alberto Visual, said a total of 44,768 homes had been completely destroyed by the quake, the same number of families that have been left homeless.\u003cbr/\u003e\"There are 519 registered deaths, 1366 people injured, that were taken to different hospitals, mainly in Lima,\" Visual said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We also have 3,667 people that were indirectly affected, but that are in need of some help,\" he added.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said those numbers could increase, adding that there are still 40 people unaccounted for.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, the director of Peru's National Institute of Culture (indeci), Cecilia Bakula detailed the loss of cultural wealth the country has experienced as a result of the earthquake.\u003cbr/\u003e\"32 percent (of historical monuments) have been totally lost, 22.6 percent have serious damage, 26.4 percent have moderate damage, and 18.8 percent have minor damage,\" said Bakula.\u003cbr/\u003eSome historic churches in Pisco and Ica have had to be demolished because of the serious damage caused by the earthquake. \u003cbr/\u003eThe government has
