Prisoner exercising\u003cbr/\u003eThe US State Department confirmed on Thursday that five of the nine British prisoners and one Dane held at the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will soon return home and face further investigation by their respective authorities.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to State Department spokesman Richard Boucher, 87 people have already been transferred from Guantanamo into the custody of foreign governments.  One Spaniard and four Saudi nationals have already been transferred.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe United States says the prisoners, who come from 42 countries, are \"enemy combatants,\" not prisoners of war, and can be tried by military tribunals.\u003cbr/\u003eThe British government named the five Britons to be released as Rhuhel Ahmed, 23; Tarek Dergoul, 24; Jamal al-Harith, 35; Asif Iqbal, 20; and Shafiq Rasul, 25.\u003cbr/\u003eHuman rights campaigners have criticised the US government for detaining the prisoners without due legal process.
