Although the topic wasn't up for discussion during the interviews with AP Entertainment, the Academy did release a statement:\u003cbr/\u003e\"Recently, the IRS commissioner issued a public statement indicating that gift bags are taxable income. The Television Academy has informed this year's recipients of this development, explained the options, furnished them with the appropriate forms and recommended that the nominees and presenters consult with their personal financial advisers for more details.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough the Academy did not give a numeric value for this year's gift bag, the swag contained items ranging from a strand of pearls, gift certificates for spa treatments, an entertainment cell phone and many more.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This year we wanted to tailor it and have experiences rather than just a gift, \" explained gift bag spokesperson Tina DiMeglio. \u003cbr/\u003e\"So with Dooney and Bourke it's a customised bag that only they are getting.
