North Korea has also expelled all nuclear inspectors from the country.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter the March sinking of the Cheonan, suspicions immediately focused on Pyongyang. \u003cbr/\u003eLast month an international team of investigators issued a report saying that the South Korean warship was most likely torpedoed by a North Korean mini-submarine. \u003cbr/\u003ePyongyang has angrily rejected the allegation.\u003cbr/\u003eSouth Korea took its case against the North to the Security Council on Friday. China is one of the council's five veto-holding members.\u003cbr/\u003eGates promised continued US support for its ally, South Korea, and said the two nations are planning joint military exercises in response to the sinking. \u003cbr/\u003eBut he said earlier the United States and Korea are holding off on the exercises until after the United Nations has a chance to respond to the crisis.\u003cbr/\u003eHe added, without elaboration, that Washington is considering \"additional options to hold North Korea accountable.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe United States already has applied trade and other sanctions. \u003cbr/\u003eDuring his delivery Ma also reiterated China's opposition to the sale of weapons by the US to Taiwan.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said that while the US seemed to have no intention of putting an end to the sale of weapons to Taiwan, China  \"did not have the ability and expectations to achieve that\" but it would maintain its opposition.\u003cbr/\u003eLater on Saturday, Gates held talks with Kitazawa on the sidelines of the security forum. \u003cbr/\u003eGates and Kitazawa then held a trilateral meeting with South Korea's Defence Minister.\u003cbr/\u003eThe
