Various walking shots of Lawrence Franklin and attorney John Richards\u003cbr/\u003eTwo former employees of a pro-Israel lobbying organisation were indicted Thursday on charges they conspired to obtain and disclose classified U.S. defence information.\u003cbr/\u003eAn indictment unsealed in the US District Court in Alexandria, Virginia, named Steven Rosen, formerly the Director of Foreign Policy Issues for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPEC), and Keith Weissman, the organisation's former senior Iran analyst.\u003cbr/\u003eThe five-count indictment also spells out in greater detail the government's case against Pentagon analyst Lawrence A. Franklin, who already was facing charges that he leaked classified military information to an Israeli official and the AIPAC employees.\u003cbr/\u003eRosen and Weissman disclosed sensitive information as far back as 1999 on a variety of topics that included militant activities in Central Asia, the bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, al-Qaeda and US policy in Iran, the indictment said. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong their contacts were US and foreign government officials and reporters, the indictment said.\u003cbr/\u003eLawyers for Rosen and Weissman denied the accusations. \u003cbr/\u003eFranklin's relationship with the men dates to 2003, the indictment said. \u003cbr/\u003eFranklin pleaded innocent to the charges when his indictment was first unsealed in June.\u003cbr/\u003ePaul McNulty, the US attorney in Alexandria, said the men apparently were motivated by a desire to advance their personal agendas and careers by trading on prized information. at a news conference.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough the indictment refers to other US officials who gave Rosen classified materials, McNulty said no other charges are planned, but noted the investigation continues.\u003cbr/\u003ePlato Cacheris, Franklin's lawyer, said he had been expecting additional charges. \u003cbr/\u003eHe said Franklin co-operated with investigators for three months in 2004.\u003cbr/\u003eThe FBI's long-running investigation has focused on whether Franklin, of Kearneysville, West Virginia, passed classified US material on Iran to AIPAC, the influential main pro-Israel lobbying organisation in Washington, and whether that group in turn passed it on to Israel. \u003cbr/\u003eBoth AIPAC and Israel deny any wrongdoing.\u003cbr/\u003eFranklin has pleaded innocent.\u003cbr/\u003eAIPAC fired Rosen and Weissman in April. \u003cbr/\u003eRosen, quoted in The New Yorker magazine last month, denied knowingly receiving classified
