That includes freedoms of speech but if those laws are broken they must be enforced just like in any other country. If you have a lot of personal freedom some people may abuse it but if you are so afraid of personal freedom because of the abuse, that you limit people's freedom too much, then you pay, I believe an even greater price in a world where the whole economy is based on ideas an information and exchange.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Bill Clinton, U-S President\u003cbr/\u003eClinton acknowledged that any system could be abused, but he said it was a mistake to limit people's freedom too much.\u003cbr/\u003eOn trade, China did not win U-S support for joining the World Trade Organisation, but another round of talks was scheduled for the week of July 20 in Geneva.\u003cbr/\u003eIn opening their joint appearance, Jiang announced the detargeting agreement and said China would not be the first to use nuclear weapons \"under any circumstances.\"\u003cbr/\u003eClinton fended off Jiang's efforts for the United States to make the same promise, although the presidents expressed satisfaction with the relationship between China and the United States.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Chinese leader said the issue of Taiwan was an important and sensitive one, and that the United States must stick to its policy of recognising only one legitimate Chinese government \"in the interest of a smooth growth\" in U-S-China relations.\u003cbr/\u003eClinton reaffirmed the U-S \"one China\" policy which opposes independence for Taiwan, and encouraged more direct talks between Taipei and Beijing.\u003cbr/\u003eIn another important regional issue, Clinton said he and Jiang agreed to work to maintain stability on the Korean Peninsula.\u003cbr/\u003eClinton listed broad areas in which the United States and China are working together, including the environment, health, judicial matters, efforts to maintaining stability in global currency markets, and technical cooperation in preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.\u003cbr/\u003eOn other issues, Jiang denied - in blunt terms - year-old allegations that China may have funnelled financial contributions to Clinton's political campaigns.\u003cbr/\u003e Beijing, China - 27 June 1998 \u003cbr/\u003e1.
