DC.\u003cbr/\u003eLaunched during the year that marks the 100th anniversary of the painter's death, the exhibition showcases over 80 of his greatest oil paintings and scores of water colours showing the overall development of his style.\u003cbr/\u003eThe international exhibition brings together paintings from the beginning until the very final paintings Cezanne completed in Aix-en-Provence.\u003cbr/\u003eThe exhibition offers a compelling examination of the landscape, people and environs where Cezanne lived almost his entire life.\u003cbr/\u003eCezanne is considered a founding father of modern art who created some of the most powerful and innovative paintings of the late 19th century and beginning of the 20th.\u003cbr/\u003eBoth Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse cited Cezanne as having a major influence on their work, and in Cezanne's later paintings the sense of abstract impressionist landscapes becomes apparent.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite parental disapproval, Cezanne pursued his passionate desire to become an artist. \u003cbr/\u003eIn so doing, he developed a style that, over time, became distinctive and extremely personal.\u003cbr/\u003eCezanne's great-grandson, Philippe Paul Cezanne, spoke about his great-grandfather's perception of nature.\u003cbr/\u003eSpending most of his life in Aix, in southern France near Marseille, Cezanne developed an intimate knowledge of the natural environment.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of his favourite subjects was the Mont Sainte-Victoire mountain that dominates the landscape around Aix.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's really the intensity of colour, the amazing palette which he uses, the richness of his brush work, just the intensity of the experience I found quite surprising\" said Philip Conisbee, co-curator of the
