Wide of headquarters facade\u003cbr/\u003eThe release of 21Filipino peacekeepers from captivity in Syria was a \"sigh of relief,\" according to an army spokesman.\u003cbr/\u003eThe peacekeepers, all Filipinos, were seized on Wednesday by Syrian rebels who initially said they would only free the hostages if Syrian regime forces withdraw from the area. \u003cbr/\u003eThe rebel group released them on Saturday after holding them hostage for four days. \u003cbr/\u003eThey drove them to the Jordanian border after accusations from Western officials that the little-known group had tarnished the image of those fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad.\u003cbr/\u003eThey were being held in the village of Jamlah, near the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We at the Armed Forces of the Philippines are very thankful for this outcome,\" said Colonel Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos.\u003cbr/\u003eWhat happens next is not perfectly clear, according to Burgos. \u003cbr/\u003e\"This will all depend on the result of the different debriefings that will be conducted,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eActivists associated with the group, the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, gave different reasons for seizing the 21 men. \u003cbr/\u003eFirst they demanded that all government forces leave the area, then they suggested the peacekeepers were human shields against government attacks. years after Israel captured the\u003cbr/\u003eplateau and a year after it pushed back Syrian troops trying to recapture the territory.\u003cbr/\u003eThe truce's stability has been shaken in recent months, as Syrian mortar shells have hit the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.\u003cbr/\u003eIsraeli officials worry the violence will prompt UNDOF to end its
