The US Ambassador to the UN has shown the Security Council photographs which she...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEnglish/Nat\u003cbr/\u003eIraq is denying claims by the United States that it has defied the United Nations by keeping military equipment it captured during the Gulf War. \u003cbr/\u003eThe US Ambassador to the UN has shown the Security Council photographs which she says backs up the allegations. \u003cbr/\u003eThe increasingly divided council is due to review sanctions against Iraq on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking at the United Nations in New York, Iraq's Foreign Minister Tariq Aziz reaffirmed his country's commitment to complying with UN resolutions, roundly denying US Ambassador Madeleine Albright's claims.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I had a meeting with the president of the council and we discussed the situation and the relations between Iraq and the council at this stage. I emphasised in my discussions with the president the time has come for the council to act in a fair and legal manner towards Iraq. Iraq has implemented the major requirements which were set in the United Nations resolutions. Iraq has expressed a sincere and serious willingness to continue cooperation with the council, with the special commission, with the IAEA and the various agencies who are in charge of following up the implementation of the United Nations resolutions. According to the letter and spirit of the United Nations resolutions the security council has to move positively towards Iraq in comparison to the achievements made by Iraq. This has not happened yet, and the reason is the position of two powerful  members in the council. That position is not legal and it's not fair.
