anatomy in medical colleges. \u003cbr/\u003eThe software called '3 D Indiana' is the first of its kind in Asia and will help medical students and practitioners unravel the layers of human anatomy with just a click of the mouse. \u003cbr/\u003eThe software provides a replica of the human body, with each organ, bone, muscle, nerve and blood vessel recreated digitally. \u003cbr/\u003eThe brainchild of Dr. Jerome Kalister, a medical graduate who took to animation and industrial design, 3 D Indiana - an acronym for Interactive Digital Anatomy, maps the anatomy of the human body in minute detail.\u003cbr/\u003e A 15-member team including medical experts, software engineers and structural engineers led by Kalister took three years to develop the software.\u003cbr/\u003eKalister feels that the software would be a great aid in robotics and distant surgeries, as it can pinpoint the precise location of a nerve or an organ part.\u003cbr/\u003eRuby John, Vice Principal of Archana College of Nursing, says the software will give each student individual access to the digital body rather than sharing the experience in a large group.\u003cbr/\u003eMedical and nursing students in India have traditionally studied anatomy with the help of text book illustrations and cadaver dissection.\u003cbr/\u003eCadavers are generally in short supply and students have to rely on diagrams and models to develop their understanding of the human anatomy.\u003cbr/\u003eMost nursing colleges cannot afford to make cadavers available for their students more than once, which is just not enough.\u003cbr/\u003eIt may not give the students the feel of a cadaver, but the virtual body allows them to slice it from all directions as many times as they want  without destroying the vital tissue.\u003cbr/\u003eThe new software has been endorsed by the Anatomical Society of India and has been referred to the Medical Council of India for
