We felt there was every reason to look for an opening confrontation of the two positions if we can get it. So we are prepared to present our view in East Germany as well as we would give the communists a chance to present their view in West Germany. This has nothing to do with a cooperation with the communists. This has to do with our desire to make it easier for people in both parts of Germany and especially in Communist East Germany to get a fair presentation of those positions which are not reconcilable between the two main political elements those responsible in the Federal Republic and the communists in the other part of Germany. We also believe that such a confrontation will make it somewhat easier to people abroad, people in other countries, to understand that there is still a German problem. That there still is the problem of divided Germany and even divided Berlin. But the main thing we are looking for is this - to raise the question and concentrate upon it, if or if not it is possible to bring about certain improvements which would make life a little bit easier in divided Germany, would make it a little bit easier for the divided families to get together to keep alive the human links, the cultural links, links in the fields of the sports and economy and science. Now this operation has to be developed in a way so that my party can rely upon understand and a certain degree of sympathy from the other political parties in the Federal Republic and I am glad to see that this condition, this precondition, exists to a very high degree there is a conversation going on between the parties in the Federal Republic and this will make it easier to  move towards a
