We're looking for information about the trial against the detainees, which he reported commenced yesterday. We'd like to ensure that the detainees have as much information about the trial and legal proceedings. That's our job. That's the reason we've come here. We would like to get the information so that we can pass it on to the detainees, so that they can make whatever preparations they think are important in preparing for whatever participation they might have in the trial. We weren't granted access immediately, but the Chief Justice did say that, as we were needed, he would be calling us in. Car driving away\u003cbr/\u003eThree Western diplomats, frustrated by a lack of information about the trial of eight foreign aid workers charged with propagating Christianity in Afghanistan, have been denied a meeting with the Taliban's Chief Justice.\u003cbr/\u003eChief Justice Noor Mohammed Saqib refused to meet the diplomats in Kabul on Wednesday, saying the court would contact them if there was any need for a meeting.\u003cbr/\u003eThe trial of the two Americans, four Germans and two Australians began in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.\u003cbr/\u003eThe three diplomats arrived outside the Supreme Court building in the heart of Kabul shortly after 9 a-m local time (0400 GMT) to seek a meeting with Saqib.\u003cbr/\u003eDavid Donahue, Consul-General at the U-S Embassy in Pakistan, said he and his colleagues had come to get an explanation of the judicial process to advise their nationals on the legality of their trial.\u003cbr/\u003eHe stressed that they didn't want to interfere with the legal process itself.\u003cbr/\u003eDonahue was accompanied by Alastair Adams, First Secretary of Australia's Embassy in Pakistan, and Helmut Landes, consular officer of the German Embassy, also in Pakistan. \u003cbr/\u003eFor 30 minutes the diplomats waited outside the Supreme Court building in the heart of Kabul, surrounded by armed Taliban soldiers and journalists.\u003cbr/\u003eInside the building, the Chief Justice met his fellow judges and decided now wasn't the time to meet the diplomats.\u003cbr/\u003eAs no explanation for the decision was given, the diplomats left in frustration.\u003cbr/\u003eFor much of the past week the diplomats have been unable to meet any Taliban official, while there has been virtual silence on the matter from the Taliban foreign ministry.\u003cbr/\u003eLandes told journalists that he and his counterparts decided to take the initiative and approach the Chief Justice on their own.\u003cbr/\u003eThe eight foreign aid workers of Shelter Now International, a Christian German-based organisation, were arrested more than four weeks ago, along with 16 Afghan employees of the same organisation.\u003cbr/\u003eThe trial is closed and
