Various, student at computer in coffee shop\u003cbr/\u003eA scientist has developed something that many people may long for early in the morning or late at night.\u003cbr/\u003eHe's managed to come up with a way to put caffeine into your favourite doughnut, or the frosting on a cake or the cream cheese in a bagel.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Robert Bohannon of Durham, North Carolina, is a molecular virologist most of the time.\u003cbr/\u003eHe studies diseases like avian flu and cervical cancer and when he's not working on his so-called \"buzz donuts,\" he's working on vaccines for other diseases.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter six years of research, using advances in the pharmaceutical industry to formulate digestible encapsulation for drugs, Bohannon has found a way to put tiny caffeine capsules into various food products, like cream cheese for a  bagel or the frosting on a doughnut.\u003cbr/\u003eHe can even put his caffeine capsules into the food mix so a bagel or a pastry can deliver a kick like a coffee.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says he's careful about the amount of caffeine used in the product.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The way that we developed them, it allows us to control the amount of caffeine per unit, so we can say, OK,  this is a one coffee unit, a two coffee unit, a three coffee unit. Now he says his \"buzz donut\" is ready for mass marketing.\u003cbr/\u003eHe's been in touch with large coffee and doughnut chain store corporations in the United States such as Starbucks and 7-11.\u003cbr/\u003eHe's waiting for a response from these companies while he operates his own test-market coffee shop in North Carolina, where customers are warned in advance that some of the cakes offer a little more than might be expected.\u003cbr/\u003eManager Stephanie Harris is anxious to see the product go nationwide.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Absolutely, there's some mornings I am just, I would like juice instead of coffee, but still want that caffeine kick.
