This tells us that also for the animal population it doesn't seem to be a very serious disease and apparently from what we know, something that is not surprising and could be expected from a virus like this. We have no information about other people who might have been infected following that event so we will have to wait and see what comes out of the current investigation. End of news conference\u003cbr/\u003eThe World Health Organisation on Sunday said it would not be \"prudent\" to try and predict when, or if, the pandemic alert for swine flu would be elevated from a Phase 5 to a Phase 6 - the highest alert level. \u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking at a daily swine flu briefing in Geneva, Gregory Hartl, WHO spokesperson for Epidemic and Pandemic Diseases said moving to a Phase 6 would require \"sustained human transmission in communities outside of the Americas.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"We don't know when that will happen, certainly we remain on alert in case that happens but it would not be prudent to make a prediction in that regard,\" Hartl said.\u003cbr/\u003eHartl released the latest statistics during the news briefing, showing 787 confirmed cases of swine flu, from 17 countries.\u003cbr/\u003eThe updated statistics came as US health officials were cautiously optimistic on Sunday that the new swine flu is not as dangerous as first feared.\u003cbr/\u003eThey continued to urge people to keep taking commonsense precautions, and say they cannot predict if it will return next winter.\u003cbr/\u003eSwine flu is now in 30 states and counting, authorities say it is spreading just as easily as regular winter flu. \u003cbr/\u003eThe latest tally from the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention shows 226 confirmed cases across 30 states.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, a day after Canadian officials said pigs on a farm there were infected with the swine flu virus, the WHO said on Sunday that pork, ham and sausages are safe to eat.\u003cbr/\u003eThe World Health Organisation and other organisations have been under pressure from pork lobbies to assure the public that food from pigs poses no risk.\u003cbr/\u003eThe health body changed the name it uses to refer to swine flu after protests from the US and other countries. Even non-health bodies such as the World Trade Organisation are saying trade barriers against pork are\u003cbr/\u003eunjustified.\u003cbr/\u003eBen Embarek said studies have shown that flu viruses are usually killed during processing and, if not, by the heat applied during cooking. \u003cbr/\u003eBen Embarek also said the cases of swine flu in pigs in Alberta are \"not surprising and could be expected from a virus like this.\" \u003cbr/\u003eHe said about 220 pigs from a herd of 2,200 - or 10 percent - were infected by a farm worker who had recently been to Mexico.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This tells us that, for the animal population, it doesn't seem to be a very serious disease,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eBen Embarek said it was impossible to predict whether the virus would mutate into a milder or more serious illness if it should pass back and forth between pigs and humans.\u003cbr/\u003eWHO spokesman Gregory Hartl said a scientific meeting would take place Monday at WHO, and focus on determining the swine flu virus' incubation period and severity or mildness. It will also seek to establish what groups of people might be most vulnerable, he said.\u003cbr/\u003eHe also commented on claims by Mexico's health secretary that the epidemic there is \"in its
