Various exteriors of Sotheby's\u003cbr/\u003eSome blurry photos of Red Square sold for 50,000 UK pounds (77,000 US dollars) at Sotheby's in London on Wednesday - but the reason they made big money was because they were taken by a chimpanzee.\u003cbr/\u003eA chimp called Mikki took the pictures of the Moscow landmark back in 1998, under the guidance of two Russian artists, Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melamid.\u003cbr/\u003eThe items were put on sale as part of Sotheby's Russian Art season, and were expected to raise between 50-thousand and 70-thousand pounds (77,000 and 107,000 US dollars). \u003cbr/\u003eIn the event they were sold for 50,000 pounds including buyer's premium.\u003cbr/\u003eA Russian art collector, Kira Flanzraich, snapped up four photos and said they were a fine example of conceptual art, and suggested that Mikki may have done a better job than a human. \u003cbr/\u003e\"It's conceptual work,\" she commented. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Sometimes you think that animals can maybe photograph or do other things better than a human being.
