I will say this will never happen because all parties - the National Congress Party and SPLM (Sudan People''s Liberation Movement) are keen not to go to war again. And in spite of this I have to admit we have some challenges here and there. And I have to make clear that the situation in Darfur now is stable, there is no war in Darfur. But we are facing a lot of problems in the south - a catastrophe, especially the humanitarian indicator in the south. As you know tribes are fighting, cattle rustling, there is famine. And, in spite of this, the Sudan government together with the South Sudan government and with UN agencies, with international NGOs (non-governmental organisations), we are working in collaboration to bring things to a standstill in the south. And, as you know, we are doing our best to prepare the ground for the upcoming election, especially in the south. This is why we are paying a lot of attention to the south.\u003cbr/\u003e10. Wide of traffic crossing bridge\u003cbr/\u003eSudan''s volatile southern region could collapse into chaos again if the international community does not do more to strengthen the 2005 peace deal that ended more than 20 years of civil war, a group of aid agencies warned on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eThe first multi-party elections in more than two decades are set for April, and the groups said in a report released on Thursday that a referendum on independence for the south in January 2011 also could re-ignite the war that killed two (m) million people.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 10 aid agencies - including Oxfam International, Save the Children and World Vision - also worry about disputes between the south and north over oil.\u003cbr/\u003eThe report, entitled \"Rescuing the Peace in Southern Sudan,\" said some 2,500 people were killed and 350-thousand others were displaced in 2009 due to a major upsurge in violence. \u003cbr/\u003eIt warned that \"a return to conflict would have devastating consequences that extend far beyond Southern Sudan.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBut on Thursday, Sudan''s Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdul Bagi Gilani, rejected the possibility of a return to conflict.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I will say this will never happen because all parties - the National Congress Party and SPLM (Sudan People''s Liberation Movement) are keen not to go to war again\", Gilani said.\u003cbr/\u003eSudan is holding its first parliamentary and presidential elections in all regions of the war-torn country next April. \u003cbr/\u003eThe elections are a key part of the 2005 peace deal that ended more than two decades of north-south civil war.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 2005 peace deal created a transitional national unity government, but mistrust between Sudan''s former north-south rivals runs deep. \u003cbr/\u003eThe elections are also expected to pave the way for the 2011 referendum in which the oil-rich south will chose whether to become independent from the north, another critical point of the peace deal.\u003cbr/\u003eAs part of the peace deal, the two parties agreed to work toward unity. \u003cbr/\u003eBut southerners, increasingly frustrated at the lack of peace dividends, have openly favoured independence.\u003cbr/\u003eMany northerners fear the secession of the oil-rich south would deprive their government of the much prized oil revenues.\u003cbr/\u003eThe agencies on Thursday urged the international community to help mediate between the parties before the elections and referendum are held. \u003cbr/\u003eThey''ve also urged the UN peacekeepers in the region to protect civilians from armed groups, and to offer more support to the southern Sudan government to build its security forces.\u003cbr/\u003eGilani acknowledged there were \"a lot of problems in the south\", describing the situation as a \"catastrophe\".\u003cbr/\u003e\"As you know tribes are fighting, cattle rustling, there is famine,\" he added.\u003cbr/\u003eGilani said the Sudanese government said on Wednesday it would give humanitarian agencies in Sudan 86 (m) million US dollars ahead of the\u003cbr/\u003eelections.\u003cbr/\u003eBritain''s Foreign Office Minister Glenys Kinnock warned that the political and humanitarian situation in south Sudan is still fragile and that millions still do not have access to clean drinking water, medicine or education.\u003cbr/\u003eThe aid agency report, released in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, said less than half the estimated 8 (m) million people in the south have access to clean water while maternal mortality rates are among the worst in the world.\u003cbr/\u003eIt said the entire region - about the size of France - has less than 30 miles (50 kilometres) of tarmac road. \u003cbr/\u003eDuring
