(Dec. 1)\u003cbr/\u003e [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]  \u003cbr/\u003e (New York) \u003cbr/\u003e  After turning himself in to police and being led to court in handcuffs, New York Giant's receiver Plaxico Burress has been charged with two gun possession counts in New York City.\u003cbr/\u003e            Burress accidentally shot himself in the right thigh while carrying an unlicensed gun at this Manhattan nightclub early Saturday morning. \u003cbr/\u003e            If convicted he faces a minimum mandatory sentence of at least 3 and a half years in prison one each count, but his lawyer is optimistic.  \u003cbr/\u003e(Ben Brafman, Defense Attorney) \u003cbr/\u003e            \"Sometimes legal proceedings begin look bleak, sometimes when they're over they don't look bleak. So give us some time to give us some time to do our best on behalf of someone who is very much worth saving.\"  \u003cbr/\u003e            Earlier this year, Burress caught the touchdown pass that won the Giants the Super Bowl. \u003cbr/\u003e            (January) \u003cbr/\u003e \"NATS: my name is Plaxico Burress, and a lot of things I say, a lot of them get taken out of proportion anyway.\" \u003cbr/\u003e            The team rewarded him with a 35 million dollar, 5-year contract. \u003cbr/\u003e            Burress walked out of court Monday on 100-thousand dollars bail. \u003cbr/\u003e            The mayor of New York City, a staunch anti-gun advocate, has little sympathy for the star athlete. \u003cbr/\u003e            (Michael Bloomberg, NYC Mayor) \u003cbr/\u003e\"If you carry a loaded handgun you get an automatic 3 ½ years in the slammer and I don't think anybody should be exempt from that, and I think it would be an outrage if we didn't prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, particularly people who live in the public domain.\" \u003cbr/\u003eBut some legal experts say Burress' lawyers could successfully mount a defense around the constitutional right to bear arms under certain circumstances, New York state which has a very similar rule has not ruled on the issue yet.\" \u003cbr/\u003e            It's unclear if the Giants will discipline Burress, but fans
