arrested on Wednesday afternoon in eastern Slovakia and Hungary, had just under half a kilogram of uranium in powder form that investigators believe came from an unspecified, and perhaps unknown, ex-Soviet republic.\u003cbr/\u003e\"This nuclear uranium powder can be used in different forms for various terrorist attacks,\" Kopcik told a news conference in Bratislava.\u003cbr/\u003eInvestigators were still working to determine who ultimately was trying to buy the uranium, Kopcik said, which the trio allegedly was selling for one million US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said police had intelligence suggesting that the suspects originally had planned to close the deal sometime between this past Monday and Wednesday. \u003cbr/\u003ePolice moved in when the sale did not occur as expected, he said.\u003cbr/\u003eKopcik said three other suspects, including a Slovak national identified only as Eugen K., were detained in the neighbouring Czech Republic in mid-October for allegedly trying to sell fake radioactive materials. \u003cbr/\u003eIt was unclear to what degree, if any, they played a role in the thwarted uranium sale.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said a total of 481.4 grams of uranium had been stashed in unspecified containers, and that investigators determined it contained 98.6 percent uranium-235. \u003cbr/\u003eUranium is considered weapons-grade if it contains at least 85 percent uranium-235.\u003cbr/\u003eEastern Slovakia's border with Ukraine is the European Union's easternmost frontier, and authorities have spent millions tightening security in the past few years.\u003cbr/\u003eSlovak and Hungarian police worked together on this case for several months, a Slovak police spokesman said.\u003cbr/\u003eHe would not say how long the suspects were under
