Mid shot garden sculpture, \"Torqued Ellipse IV\" (1999)\u003cbr/\u003eExhibits of massive proportions will take centre-stage this weekend at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.  \u003cbr/\u003eRichard Serra, a modern minimalist sculptor, is presenting a retrospective of his works that spans almost five decades.\u003cbr/\u003e27 pieces will be on display, the most impressive of which are large-scale steel structures, some weighing in at 200 tons.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe MoMA constructed special galleries on their second floor to accommodate items like Serra's newest work, three towering sculptures all made in 2006. \u003cbr/\u003eThey are entitled \"Band,\" \"Sequence,\" and \"Torqued Torus Inversion.\" Each piece is approximately 5 metres high and it is the artist's intent for museum visitors to walk in and around the structures.\u003cbr/\u003eSerra says that in these pieces, the person is the subject matter.\u003cbr/\u003e\"In other works of art, say something on a pedestal or something in a frame, there the content is the depiction, or the referential, or the representation of what you're looking at. A highlight is a series of lead free-standing sculptures from the late 1960s, referred to as \"Prop Pieces.\"  These are considered to be seminal works by the artist.\u003cbr/\u003eIn MoMA's outside
