Aerial of rainforest \u003cbr/\u003eBrazil would be open to discussing the creation of a new environmental organisation linked to the United Nations that would provides resources and technology for developing nations, the country's foreign minister said on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring a meeting of cabinet ministers and officials from 22 nations, Celso Amorim said Brazil is open to \"an analysis\" of a French proposal free from \"preconceived notions\".\u003cbr/\u003e\"I want to make something very clear, Brazil favours an institutional reinforcement of international environmental policy and supports an analysis of the topic,\" Amorim said in the meeting. \u003cbr/\u003eThe new organisation would operate along similar lines as the World Trade Organisation or the World Health Organisation and would aim to protect the Earth's environment.\u003cbr/\u003eDeveloping countries such as South Africa and Argentina have already declared their support for such an international body while the United States has opposed its creation.\u003cbr/\u003eBrazil's Environment Minister, Marina Silva, said she believed frank talks could overcome the opposition of the United States to such an international body, because the public was increasingly calling upon governments to act to contain global warming and other environmental issues.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are looking for environmental guidelines within the Brazilian environmental policy that will promote public participation in a transparent and democratic manner,\" Silva said during the meeting. \u003cbr/\u003eRepresentatives from the US delegation led by Claudia A. ethanol and other bio-fuels have put it at the forefront of international efforts to combat climate change.\u003cbr/\u003eThe country is home to the bulk of the Amazon rainforest, which many
