Those cars (Bugatti) were meant to be sold only to chief of states and European royalty.\"\u003cbr/\u003eWhile they were intended to be driven by royalty, according to Biju-Duval they never were able to achieve that aim.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Wall Street Crash in October 1929 and financial difficulties afterwards, meant many could not afford such a luxurious ride.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Even if he (Ettore Bugatti) had some advanced contacts with chiefs of states and royalties - like the King of Spain and the King of Romania - there is a financial crisis of 1929, only few months after the crisis in United States,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Ordered cars were not paid and he was in a terrible difficulty.\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe three Bugatti Royales include 'The Limousine' which was delivered to England in 1933 and 'The Roadster' which was ordered by industrialist Armand Esders in 1932.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Bugatti Roadster's max speed is 180 kilometres per hour.\u003cbr/\u003eThe event's centrepiece is this collection of 14 cars by former Spanish automakers Pegaso.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen they hit the roads in the early 1950s, their release shocked the automotive world.\u003cbr/\u003eAt the time, Spain was rebuilding itself under a political regime isolated by neighbouring countries, such a fragile economic situation made it difficult to develop cutting-edge technology. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Pegaso is a small Spanish car maker,\" says show director, Francois Melcion.\u003cbr/\u003e\"They made 84 vehicles - which is not much - and we succeeded to gather here 14 examples of it, one sixth of the whole production. I think that there were never 14 Pegasos in one place at a time.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe first Pegaso cars were hand built by famed Spanish truck and bus builders, ENASA.\u003cbr/\u003eBut from 1952, Spanish engineer Wifredo Ricart called on the most coveted coach builders of the time - including Touring and Saoutchik - to help create more refined vehicles.\u003cbr/\u003eBorn from post-war Spain, the first Pegaso cars were avant-garde vehicles that were technological showcases of their time.\u003cbr/\u003eCar enthusiast Douglas Blain owns one of them. He says he hoped to own a Pegaso for decades before he got one.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I read about them since a magazine from that period as a young boy and felt this was the one car I really want,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It was about 50 or 60 years before I actually realised what I wished.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBlain's car is a Pegaso Z-102 (1955), which boasts a V8 3.2-litre engine.\u003cbr/\u003eHe bought the car at Retromobile eight years ago and has now completely restored it.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It was the most expensive, the fastest and the most exotic car in the world at the time,\" says Blain.\u003cbr/\u003e\"They built 80 of them - just a little over 80, 86, 87 - and this is one of the last.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe event is also paying tribute to Milanese architect and property developer Corrado Lopresto through a collection of his cars.\u003cbr/\u003eFrom the age of 16, Lopresto fostered a passion for Italian auto design, tracking down and collecting countless prototypes and unique models.\u003cbr/\u003eSince then, he's won over 180 awards at the prestigious Concours d'Elegance antique car shows.\u003cbr/\u003eHe's here with his son, Duccio Lopresto, presenting 12 carefully-selected cars from their collection.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Today, a few cars have been selected - just 12 cars - because we own more than a hundred cars,\" says Duccio Lopresto.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Only Italian cars and only prototypes and unique pieces.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe collection includes this Alfa Romeo Gulietta Spider.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was once one of two possible models being considered for production, but eventually rejected because it was too expensive.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Even if they're old cars, they're very innovative and futuristic in the design,\" says Duccio Lopresto.\u003cbr/\u003e\"And the design, since they're prototypes, they were quite free in the way they designed them. They were not constricted by rules.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAround 100-thousand people are expected to visit the event during its 5-day run, many - according to show director Melcion - keen to take a stroll down memory lane.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Nostalgia is the main element of this show,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We have a passion, a nostalgia and I believe that we are spreading a lot of dreams here.
