Romania and Bulgaria are set to become full members in the coming months, along with five other former communist countries in the region.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring his visit, Powell was repeatedly asked to clarify American military intentions toward neighbouring Georgia, where the United States has up to 100 military trainers.  Powell has said the training mission will be over soon and that the United States has no plans to establish bases in Georgia. \u003cbr/\u003eDuring the radio interview, Powell was also asked about the jailing of oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky. \u003cbr/\u003eThe U.S. State Department has previously complained about what some officials consider high-handed Kremlin treatment of opposition parties, and a U.S. official has ventured that politics probably was \"the driving factor\" in the jailing of Khodorkovsky, who has been in prison since October on fraud and tax evasion
