A walk into the past, into the  age of the pharaohs.\u003cbr/\u003eThe civilization that existed in Egypt thousands of years ago will be soon be at the tip of  your fingers.\u003cbr/\u003eIn Cairo, the old and the new are being brought together by Dr Kent Weeks.\u003cbr/\u003eAs a child he became interested in Egyptology due to enthusiastic teachers and a good  library.\u003cbr/\u003eToday his pioneering work in the Valley of the Kings has resulted in the exciting  discovery of King Ramses II's sons tomb, known as KV5.\u003cbr/\u003eHe wants to make his findings accessible to everyone from school children to  academics by creating an extensive CD Rom which will document all his work as well  as all the tombs and temples in the famous Valley.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"We've got an opportunity to prepare a cd Rom atlas of the valley of the kings that will  provide a lot more information, make a lot more information accessible than a simple  hard copy of the atlas will do. Having taken such great pains over the last 16 years to\u003cbr/\u003eensure as accurate a project plan as we could get, I'd like now to take it to the next  stage and do as up-to-date, high-tech useful or user-friendly an atlas as we can. That  atlas of the valley of the kings can then provide the user access to information on all  other aspects of Egyptian culture. You do a walk through of a royal tomb, you stop in  one chamber, look at a wall, you see a representation of a god. Who is he? What do  we know about him? Why is he there? Where else does he occur in other tombs in the  valley? It could be a terrific tool, not just for egyptologists, but even for school kids\u003cbr/\u003ewho are interested in learning more about ancient Egypt.
