But financial problems, absence of a secure job, and expensive housing are just some of the reasons given for delaying tying the knot.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to government statistics, some two million, five hundred thousand women (both singles and widows) are waiting to get married.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd Tehran's Organization for Civil Registration shows out of Iran's total population of 71.830.091 (seventy one million, eight hundred thirty and ninety one), 24 million are aged between 15 and 25. \u003cbr/\u003eThe average age for getting married is 40 for men and for women 35. Consequently premarital sex outside the wedlock is becoming common in Iran .\u003cbr/\u003eA survey by the national youth organisation found that more than one in four men aged 19 to 29 had experienced sex before marriage. About 13% of such cases resulted in unwanted pregnancies that led to abortions. However, sex outside marriage and abortions are outlawed under Iran's Islamic legal code.\u003cbr/\u003eThe government has let the private sector, supervised indirectly by the government, open marriage bureaus or dating centres to help singles find a husband or wife. \u003cbr/\u003eSome of these centres are run by clerics. Most Iranian marriages are not exactly arranged, but relatives often take it on themselves to introduce suitable candidates. \u003cbr/\u003eMahya is an unmarried woman. She thinks that the idea of a marriage bureau will not be favoured by families and it is hard to convince them to ask a bureau find their children a match for marriage.\u003cbr/\u003eMohammad, another single-and-looking man, also believes what causes delayed marriage is not the process of finding the right person but a lack of money.\u003cbr/\u003eYouths' House of Hope is a dating centre headquartered in Tehran . Its database contains profiles of many recipients looking for their future mate. \u003cbr/\u003eUsers pass their personal details onto operators at the centre. The centre then browses its database, exchanges phone numbers and if necessary, sets up dates in locations determined by the centre.\u003cbr/\u003eSaeed Yazdani, the manager of the centre says the aim is to eliminate all kinds of premarital relationships except the required initial introduction.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a bid to help young Iranians the government provides couples with non-profit loans and organises group marriages periodically. \u003cbr/\u003eMohammad Ahmadi is a sociologist \u0026amp; psychologist. He says often people have too many expectations before they marry.\u003cbr/\u003eKeyvan is a 25 year old man who cannot embark on marriage due to his inability to make a living. He has experienced sex before marriage but says he prefers to have sex after marriage.\u003cbr/\u003eOmid Modir, a urologist, warns many young people are risking catching a sexually transmitted disease if they have unprotected sex.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the areas of concern is the rise in HIV infections.
