However, there were some disappointments for those selling.\u003cbr/\u003eFor auctioneers at Guernsey's who thought a rock 'n' roll auction would fill their coffers,  the first day on the block was a disappointment.  \u003cbr/\u003eA 1955 home movie of Elvis Presley performing before 25 people at Magnolia Gardens,  billed as his first performance on film, was expected to fetch up to 50 thousand (U-S)  dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eBut this collector got it for a bargain 12-thousand.\u003cbr/\u003eThis drawing by Kurt Cobain, the Nirvana singer who overdosed last year, raised 15- thousand dollars as did his blood-stained guitar.\u003cbr/\u003eAmong the more bizarre lots was a sink which belong to the late Beatle, John Lennon.   It was expected to raise four- to five- thousand dollars, but one lucky buyer snapped it  up for a mere 450 dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eSix rare Beatles records went for 32-thousand dollars.  One of them had previously  thought to exist only as a bootleg.\u003cbr/\u003eA greater level of interest in the items had been anticipated - in the event many items  sold for far less than their estimated prices.\u003cbr/\u003ePaul McCartney's bass guitar, expected to be in high demand, was withdrawn despite  earlier optimism.\u003cbr/\u003eThis is one of four bases of Paul McCartney, the main basses in the sixties for the  Beatles. This is the only one he doesn't have and it's the only one that is ever going to  be available really. Therefore it's a really unique opportunity to have a significant piece of  Beatles memorabilia.\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Collector \u003cbr/\u003eMany guitars were featured in the auction, but the first Fender electric guitar built in  1948 was withdrawn after the highest bid fell 50-thousand short of the reserve price of  475-thousand dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eOther items up for auction were a top hat autographed by Michael Jackson and gold  records from the likes of Janis Joplin.\u003cbr/\u003eFive-thousand items are on the block at the four-day auction.\u003cbr/\u003e1.
