We may be too small to support it, so there's a niche for film, I think film will be around for many many years, I think digital will be around for many years and I think they will probably exist in harmony with one another.\"\u003cbr/\u003e34. Zoom into film spooling off reel\u003cbr/\u003eHugh Jackman and Dakota Fanning may be the big names at ShoWest, the annual convention of theatre exhibitors, held each March in Las Vegas, But the big breakout star of this year's ShoWest event is digital cinema. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter years touted as \"the next big thing,\" the film-replacing projection mode appears to finally be living up to its promise. Digital cinema delivers what is widely considered to be clearer, more consistent big-screen sound and visuals than film, which deteriorates over time.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile film is still the dominant mode of showing films in cinemas worldwide, digital is making substantial gains, and even film company Eastman Kodak is pushing digital as the way of the cinematic future.\u003cbr/\u003eThe ShoWest convention offers a platform for summer movies, as well as other things that may be coming soon to a cinema near you, including theatre seats and concessions.\u003cbr/\u003eThe festival continues
