But we need a willing partner on the other side and it's important that the new president understands that and understands that, obviously people will watch very closely what is happening with the new Iranian president because, you know, our view very strongly, is that  those obligations that Iran has entered into have to be upheld. Blair leaves news conference \u003cbr/\u003eThe British Prime Minister and the European Union foreign policy chief have stressed the need for the new Iranian president to uphold his countries obligations under the current agreements. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever, Javier Solana said on Monday he saw no immediate reason to change policy on Iran after the election of hard-line candidate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, adding nuclear talks with Tehran will continue.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Solana did caution that the EU would only accept Iranian policies that were already  encompassed in the terms of the Paris agreement.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Let me tell you  something very clear. Nothing, nothing, nothing will be accepted by  us which is not in the terms of the Paris agreement, \" he said.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We don't have any reason to change at this time,\" Solana told EU head office and Solana also demanded Iran address claims of voter irregularities in the presidential vote.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the election campaign, Ahmadinejad indicated he would want Iran's negotiators to take a tougher position in their talks with Britain, France and Germany, who are trying to persuade Iran to abandon its uranium enrichment and related activities.\u003cbr/\u003eBritish Prime Minister Tony Blair said that Iran's new president would be making a \"serious mistake\" if he thought they were going to go \"soft\" on him. \u003cbr/\u003eThe United States holds that Iran has a secret programme to build nuclear weapons, and points to its clandestine activities as evidence that Iran cannot be trusted. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Iranian enrichment programme was revealed only three years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eIran insists its nuclear programme is entirely for the generation of electricity. \u003cbr/\u003eIt has suspended enrichment and related activities as a goodwill gesture for
