Bush and Al Gore both turned to the Florida Supreme Court to resolve issues critical to the state's contested U-S presidential election.\u003cbr/\u003eBoth the Bush and Gore campaigns are turning to Florida's highest court as the presidential election turmoil continues.\u003cbr/\u003eThe rival camps are asking the state Supreme Court to resolve key issues in the state's contested presidential election.\u003cbr/\u003eThey're looking for rulings on the legality of continued manual recounts sought by Democrats.\u003cbr/\u003eGore representative Warren Christopher said Democrats will ask the Florida Supreme Court to take jurisdiction over a growing number of election-related lawsuits.\u003cbr/\u003eChristopher says his side is asking the court whether Florida law allows for the hand counts and when they should be completed.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Once again, as I indicated, we remain disappointed by the actions of the secretary of state because we believe that the effect of them will be only to delay, once again, the counting of the votes. And that is to have a full, fair and accurate count of the votes.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Warren Christopher, Gore Advisor\u003cbr/\u003eAs for the Bush camp, it asked for permission to join in a court petition by Florida's Republican secretary of state seeking to block further manual recounts.\u003cbr/\u003eKatherine Harris, a supporter of Bush, asked the state Supreme Court to block any manual recounts \"pending final resolution\" on whether they are appropriate under state law. \u003cbr/\u003eShe also asked for the consolidation of a mushrooming number of election-related cases into one place.\u003cbr/\u003eA prominent attorney for the Gore campaign accused Harris of trying to \"change the rules in the middle of the game.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Under Florida law, any candidate has a right to get a manual recount. It's always been that way. That's happened in a lot of campaigns in the past. It's happened in this campaign, in other counties.
