Murrah  Federal Building - as a man filled with hate and rage for the U-S government.\u003cbr/\u003eBut his attorneys fired back, attacking what they called shortcomings in the  government's case and claiming the wrong man was on trial.\u003cbr/\u003eTimothy McVeigh is accused of blowing up the Oklahoma City federal building on April  19, 1995, killing 168 people.\u003cbr/\u003eHis attorney, Stephen Jones, entered the courthouse surrounded by reporters and  cameramen.\u003cbr/\u003eHe was followed by lead prosecutor Joseph Hartzler, who suffers from multiple  sclerosis.\u003cbr/\u003eThis was the scene outside the Oklahoma federal building immediately after the  bombing.\u003cbr/\u003eAn audiotape and videotape have given jurors a vivid picture of the horrors of the  Oklahoma City bombing. \u003cbr/\u003eThe jurors heard the booming explosion, following by panicked screams and saw  images of bloody children and people running in terror.\u003cbr/\u003eLou Klaver, an attorney who authenticated the audiotape, was recording a meeting at a  building across the street when the bomb went off shortly after nine in the morning.\u003cbr/\u003eHer voice can be heard on the tape, followed by 14 and a half seconds of concrete and  metal being ripped apart.\u003cbr/\u003eHartzler has painted McVeigh as a man filled with hatred for the U-S federal  government.\u003cbr/\u003eThat hatred, according to prosecutors, was fuelled by what he saw as the government's  slaughter of innocent people at the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas.\u003cbr/\u003eBut McVeigh's attorney has declared his client innocent.\u003cbr/\u003eStephen Jones has accused the U-S government of trying to elevate McVeigh's political  beliefs into a motive for mass murder.\u003cbr/\u003eDenver, US, 25 April 1997; Oklahoma, US, file\u003cbr/\u003eDenver - 25 April 1997:\u003cbr/\u003e1.
