Protest sign\u003cbr/\u003eAs the Federal Penitentiary in U-S community of Terre Haute prepared on Sunday for the execution of Timothy McVeigh, protestors began to gather at a church near the prison. \u003cbr/\u003eWhilst prison warden, Harley J Lappin, was too busy to talk to reporters he is expected to brief the media after McVeigh's execution at 8-a-m EST (1300 GMT). \u003cbr/\u003eMeantime, people came from all over the country to protest the federal government's use of capital punishment. \u003cbr/\u003eA bus, Journey of Hope, arrived from Boston at St Margaret Mary's Church in Terre Haute in the late afternoon, although it carried only three people. \u003cbr/\u003eThey were met by less than 100 protestors, many of whom will be spending the night at the church.\u003cbr/\u003eAnticipating large numbers of protestors, Terre Haute assembled a Peace Team to handle potentially violent protestors, but the turnout was much smaller than previously expected. \u003cbr/\u003eProtestors said it was difficult to plan the trip on such short notice, with most expecting McVeigh would receive a stay of execution.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe small turnout didn't deter the demonstrators who marched through the city calling for an end to capital punishment.  \u003cbr/\u003eBud Welch came to remember his daughter, who was killed by the bomb McVeigh admitted to setting.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said the death penalty was more about politics than punishment, and joined the protestors in their call for an end to capital
