It is the easiest and quickest way to send a message,\" she says. \u003cbr/\u003eThe show is part of a series of events across the world known as the People's Climate March.\u003cbr/\u003eHundreds of thousands of people in 166 countries took part in marches and other events on Sunday to raise awareness about climate change.\u003cbr/\u003eAmena Sharaf, another member of 350.org Egypt, says climate change is something that everyone should care about.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Climate change is literally claiming lives. It is as important as any other problem. We have problems in agriculture, and problems in the economy, but these are also connected to climate change. It is not independent, by itself, on the sidelines, it is very connected to the economic and social situation in Egypt.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe global movement is trying to get politicians to take action at the UN Climate Summit later this week in New York City. \u003cbr/\u003eMore than 120 heads of state are expected to attend, including Egyptian president Abdul-Fattah el-Sissi, in what will be his first trip to the US since taking office earlier in 2014.\u003cbr/\u003eSharaf is calling on Egypt's government to focus on finding a long term solution to tackle climate change. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Is the government prepared to look towards the long term when they search for a solution, or just the short term? Are they prepared to find the technology? Or are they just looking for the quick and easy solution?\"\u003cbr/\u003e350.org says more than 11,500 people from the Middle East and North Africa, along with two million others across the world, have signed a petition to be read at the UN summit calling for \"bold action\".\u003cbr/\u003eThe organisation advocates keeping the level of carbon in the atmosphere below 350 parts per million. NASA estimates the current level to be 397 parts per million. \u003cbr/\u003eMembers of the group Egyptians Against Coal are also involved in the Cairo event.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are for new energy, renewable energy, energy that is more secure for people and the environment,\" says anti-coal activist Mohammed el-Zawawy. \"Today, the whole world has a great chance to be united in one message, and for the first time, the whole world has at least one common request, and that is the right to a clean environment, and the right to renewable energy.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn April, the Egyptian government approved the import of coal for the first time to help power the struggling concrete industry, sparking protests from environmentalists concerned about carbon emissions and pollution.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Because Egypt has entered a new phase of development, it must use renewable and clean energy and that is safer for human beings.
