Wide of woman riding away and making waves on jet ski \u003cbr/\u003eResidents of Tehran are enjoying water sports following the opening of a newly inaugurated lake south of the capital.\u003cbr/\u003eLocated 20 kilometres south of the Iranian capital, Tehran, the newly inaugurated Fashafuyeh Lake, is attracting the interest of scores of residents who normally only have a limited choice of outdoor entertainment.\u003cbr/\u003eUntil now, Tehran residents would have to take a four hour journey to reach the Northern Caspian Sea if they wanted to enjoy the water and sea air.\u003cbr/\u003eAlternatively, they could fly to Persian Gulf resort islands such as Kish, Qeshm or coastal cities including Chahbahar to enjoy water sports.\u003cbr/\u003eWith a population of nearly eight (8) million, mostly young people, outdoor entertainment in Tehran is important for the capital's residents who often experience average temperatures in excess of 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer.\u003cbr/\u003eJet ski enthusiast, Navid, from Tehran says \"it is a venue where the youth can easily play water sports.\" \u003cbr/\u003e\"This is the lake's most important feature,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003eFashafuyeh recreational area is just half an hour's drive from Tehran and is proving a hive of activity for the upper middle class in search of some outdoor fun on the weekends.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough men and women can enjoy a higher level of social freedom at Fashafuyeh recreational complex, it is still abides by Islamic dress code. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Here, the Islamic dress code is fully observed,\" says the complex owner's daughter, Natali Gharabeighi.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I mean women should water ski while observing Islamic hijab or dress code,\" she says. \"It is not a problem. Anyway, these are sports that you can enjoy everywhere.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIts popularity comes in spite of ongoing development at the site which is due to later include a racing track.\u003cbr/\u003eBut there is at least one dampener that could affect the number of visitors the complex receives.\u003cbr/\u003eThere is speculation that Iranian authorities are reluctant to set up advertising billboards on the roadside because it is located some 100 kilometres (62 miles) from the holy city of Qom.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's feared increase traffic to the region could have an detrimental impact on Iran's most sacred city.  \u003cbr/\u003eAnother limiting factor is that not every body can afford the cost of the water sports offered at the complex.\u003cbr/\u003eOne hour of jet skiing can cost some 120 US dollars and it is a price that only upper, middle class can afford. \u003cbr/\u003eThe average monthly income in Iran is about 450 to 500 US dollars.\u003cbr/\u003eAs she watches her partner on the water, Tehran resident, Elham, lauds the high tolerance and freedom offered by the complex and says she believes it is worth the cost of nearly a thousand (1000) US dollars for the
