Others find the attention she is getting ridiculous.\u003cbr/\u003eOne thing all agree on - Melody, a red cow is causing a stir in a quiet village in northern Israel.\u003cbr/\u003eIn Kfar Hasidim, a quiet village in the north of Israel, a sign has appeared that foretells the building of the third Jewish Temple in Jerusalem and the coming of the Messiah.\u003cbr/\u003eThe sign is Melody the cow. \u003cbr/\u003eMelody is what is know in the Jewish religion as a \"Red Heifer\", a red cow - a symbol that the return of the Messiah is imminent.\u003cbr/\u003eThe ashes of a red heifer must be mixed with spring water to purify high priests before they can enter the third Temple - the first and second temples were destroyed by the Greeks and Romans respectively. This ceremony  is part of the Jewish religious laws, known as the Mitzvah .\u003cbr/\u003eThe danger arises from the would-be site of the temple.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to legend, it must be built where the Al Aqsa mosque currently stands - the third most holy site to Muslims. \u003cbr/\u003eMelody's birth 10 months ago caused a flurry of media interest, coinciding with a religious revival and coming shortly after an election in which religious parties posted a record showing.\u003cbr/\u003eMelody's mother is from a group of visually unremarkable black-and-white cows penned in down the hill at Kfar Hasidim.\u003cbr/\u003eBut she was artificially inseminated with sperm taken from an anonymous bull in Switzerland.\u003cbr/\u003eShamria Shore, Rabbi of Kfar Hasidim, said pure red heifers seem to have died out in Israel since the post-temple period.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said that it is rare to see a red heifer without white or black spots. \u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"As far as we know the last Red Heifer who was valid for the Mitzvah was two thousand years ago, when the second Temple was standing, and maybe the ashes of the red Heifer where used for a short time after the destruction of the second Temple.
