British rule to Chinese sovereignty, according to democracy advocates.\u003cbr/\u003eAt Beijing's directive, the Hong Kong government has unveiled the controversial Article 23 that contains proposed new measures on assembly and speech in Hong Kong.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to several Hong Kong legislators who appeared on Capitol Hill on Monday afternoon, if Article 23 - the so-called subversion law - goes into effect, religious freedom, freedom of speech and press freedom will disappear.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Article 23 Concern Group believes that the new law will allow authorities to arrest and detain anyone who opposes the Beijing government.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile Beijing maintains that the move is necessary for the internal security of Hong Kong in the face of terrorism, members of the group say it may be directed specifically against members of the Falun Gong sect and potentially, other religions.\u003cbr/\u003eUnless there is a change in plans Article 23 of the Basic Law will go into
