It's been associated with more severe seasons in the past, particularly in people 65 years of age and older and in young kids, so it's not surprising that this virus can cause severe illness and unfortunately it is causing some deaths and some hospitalizations in people this year too,\" said Dr. Michael Jhung, a medical officer with the influenza division at CDC.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Jhung says the influenza vaccine is still the best way to prevent flu and complications from the flu. \"And for that reason, we strongly encourage anyone who hasn't been vaccinated yet to get vaccinated.
